Trump – 6 days in January

Sometimes I wish I’d have kept a diary of the extraordinary left field events, one after the other,  of the first year of Trump. You couldn’t make it up. Unbelievable. Whatever next. Of course, there is a serious side: we are closer now than we have been to nuclear challenge; the rich are richer now the divide greater; the acceptable rise of popularism, and the right, and tacitly agreed sexual exploitation and rampant capitalism. Barry is my litmus paper.

But quietly I hope Trump continues to entertain us. Because the more he puts his foot in it,  the less policy he will change or instigate; because the more he does the more the opposition will find itself and offer a solid alternative, lacking until now; and finally I gather the alternative waiting in the wings, Pence, is horrid.

So here’s the update these days:

In December 2017, the reverberations of Trumps feet into Israel:
US will recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel . When it became clear the United Nations Security Council would overwhelmingly reject this, he threatened to cut off aid to any country who voted against him. “They take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars, and then they vote against us,” he told reporters at the White House. Let them vote against us. We’ll save a lot. We don’t care.”
He likes the word billions.

The year opened with
‘Trump to Kim: My nuclear button is ‘bigger and more powerful’  It ended a quick-fire day of tweeting by Mr Trump in which he took credit for a lack of plane crashes, announced awards for “corrupt media” and threatened to pull aid from Palestinians for failing to show “appreciation or respect”. It is in the wake of a previous exchange in which Trump name called Kim, Rocket Man, and Kim to Trump dotard: “Action is the best option in treating the dotard who, hard of hearing, is uttering only what he wants to say,” Mr Kim wrote, displaying a keen sense of the original meaning of the word. But he ended his screed with the ominous line: “I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire.”

Trump Bannon fight gets dirty – Bannon his chief strategist for getting him into the White House, becomes his no 1 enemy. Sloppy Steve, Trump calls him.

Then comes the Fire and Furry – Micheal Wolfs book about Trumps first year.  Mr Wolff  said his book would help end the Trump presidency. Everyone calls him ‘Like a child… who needs “immediate gratification”.
Trumps response? Predictable. Fake News. Author is a “total loser”.  Book of ‘fiction, author fraud.

As for the doubts over his mental health raised in the book, the president claimed he was a “very stable genius” who was “like, very smart”.
