Just in case & Covehithe

The Just In Case has gone
It is no longer needed
That box of nails, tin of paint
Circa 1985
That bag of bags, and bag of rags
to mop up oil, now mostly mouse munched
Is thankfully a decision I don’t have to make.
As is a plate broken. Another I don’t have to store.
Time left is not sufficient to find a need,
I suffice the risk assessment.

I’ll pass on that tin of jackfruit
That has not tempted me to open
These past 10 years.

As for Just in case (I forget) words
They are going south too
Shorter forms emerge, such as this
To catch a moment, a day of
Clearing out my shed.

Covehithe to reward the dogs who had followed me from house to shed to garage as stuff moved from place to place, mostly to rubbish. A remarkable place to look out to beyond our island, and feel our land being washed away by sea water, revealing layers of millions of years before. Caught in time I am. The birdseed planted on the land this spring, is now fallen to the sea. What is is 1-2 meters a year?
