I am copying part of an email from Emily here, as it speaks of her extraordinary character between the lines and in the words. Her passion and felt sadness for Gaza, her imagination and curiosity – where did that toothbrush go – in the face of adversity (a rat!)
Dear Rachel
Thank you so much for letting me know that Gill”s John is no longer with us. I will write ,I didn’t know him well but enjoyed all our meetings over the years. Such a blessed time for them both The renewed &romantic friendship &so many shared adventures & travels . A true Boon .but this last chapter must have been painful &hard.
I’ve been in Glos to say farewell to Hatti & her angel Gabriel , who set off together to the City of Angels , LA on August 23 indeed I hope there are some still in residence there to help her find work on which their everything depends .
Then I went straight down to Cornwall to see Tom (her twin) & a glimpse of his little v frail Bonnie . (& the roaring Atlantic.) I’ll be Back in Suffolk soon, but today Glos again lia sing with a rat man to retrieve a corpse in the loft. . Who had used a tiny plastic toothbrush of Gabriel’s as potential nesting material,
We all wondered where that had gone his mouth organ too ! Musical rodents? .
See you soon ,I wonder what you’ve been up to this Summer after Cornwall. ?
X Emily
