To Frack or not to frack

We’ve been fracking conventional reserves since we’ve been extracting gas, ie 1940/60/90, off shore and on shore.

Freckinf unconventional reserves mainly in us since 90s.

Water provides the hydraulic power. Water 95 , sand 5, chemicals, 5

12 swimming pools of water. But far more in leakages wastage. 1/2 recovered and reused.

Is it safe?

Earthquakes

Contamination of water, et Pennsylvania,

LNG linquid natural gas the anternative. 50% Uk rest imported. But as North Sea declines 70% imported. Very ene3gy intensive process. 20% of energy in process.

  1. Sounds like a very poor comparison. We need to use only sustainable sources of energy rather than choose any that is carbon intensive. We also have to decrease our energy demands to live within sustainable limits. That there are methods of acquiring energy that are even worse than fracking hardly makes fracking a good option! Gas, like oil and coal needs to be left in the ground. Surely!
